How to perform Hajj: A complete guideline for pilgrims from Bangladesh

Those who go for Hajj from Bangladesh usually perform Hajj Tamattu. The sequence of Hajj Tamattu is as follows:

  • Wearing Ihram before entering the Miqat (before boarding the plane when first going to Mecca).
  • After reaching Mecca, leave your belongings in your room, perform ablution, and go to the Kaaba with the Muallim.
  • Tawaf of the Kaaba, that is, doing tawaf the Kaaba seven times, if possible, kiss the Black Stone (Hajr-E-Aswad), if not possible, start the Tawaf by pointing with your hand and kissing your hand.
  • Doing tawaf the Kaaba seven times quickly (Ramal), during Tawaf, the Ihram sheet should be brought under the right hand and placed on the left shoulder so that the right shoulder and arm are exposed (Ijtibah). These two acts are the Sunnah of Tawaf, which is also a Sunnah to be performed during Tawaf-e-Ziyarat and Umrah.
  • You have to run (Doing Sa'ee) between Safa and Marwa seven times; starting from Mount Safa and ending at Marwa.
  • Shaving your head or trimming your hair.

After performing these rituals, if there are still a few days left before Hajj, you can leave Ihram and go to Madinah Sharif. After performing Umrah before Hajj, returning from Ihram to your normal life and making the intention for Hajj as before is called Hajj Tamattu.

Note:

  • Hajj Qiran is a pilgrimage where a Muslim performs Hajj and Umrah together with one Ihram, without exiting Ihram between them. All the above must be done during this Hajj. Only Ihram cannot be removed.
  • Hajj Ifrad is a pilgrimage where a Muslim performs only Hajj without Umrah, entering Ihram solely for Hajj until its completion. The above activities are not required during this Hajj.
